Next-generation engines

Working with our customers, we make it our business to improve productivity and profitability by addressing the issues of safety, performance, weight, and reliability. From design and development through integration, manufacture, certification, and lifetime support, we work hard to engineer your success, contributing innovative thinking and significant process improvements every step of the way.

Hydraulics & lubrication

Lightweight composite oil reservoirs

Advanced design and material application make these reservoirs 20% lighter than titanium and aluminum, and up to 50% lighter than stainless steel, resulting in reduced fuel burn and emissions.

Composite reservoirs can offer 20% weight savings overtitanium and aluminum tanks, and up to 50% savings versus stainless steel, providing significant fuel and emissions reduction over the life of the product, and resulting in a lower total cost of ownership.

In addition, the composite fabrication process can yield more complex shapes to fit into unusual envelope contours.

Gerotors

Rugged and reliable gerotor pumping elements are highly customizable, yielding the smallest, most compact, and lightweight devices.

Gearbox-driven lubrication and scavenge pumps use rugged and reliable gerotor technology. Gerotor elements are highly customizable, providing the smallest, most compact, and lightweight solution for distributing lubricating oil throughout gas turbine engines and scavenging the fluid back to the lubrication oil reservoir.

Next generation pump (hydraulic)

This scalable pump family offers less heat rejection, lighter weight, and better reliability, while saving 16,000 gallons of fuel and 320,000 pounds of CO2 per aircraft over a 20-year lifespan.

A scalable pump family for commercial and military applications that provides best-in-class performance and lowest lifecycle cost. The pump design is intrinsically safe, with a feature that prevents over-temperature conditions.

The Next-Gen NPV65 for A320neo is an interchangeable pump that offers 24% lighter weight, 29% less heat rejection and 37% better reliability. These benefits combine to save 16,000 gallons of fuel and 320,000 pounds of CO2 per aircraft when compared to a competitor pump over a 20-year lifespan.

Differential pressure indicator (DPI)

DPIs prevent unintended surges and actuation, while reducing maintenance and unnecessary filter replacement, optimizing cost of ownership for our customers.

DPIs are used in filter manifolds to provide indication that the filter element is becoming clogged and needs to be changed, thereby maintaining fluid cleanliness, limiting unnecessary filter changeouts and reducing maintenance time. DPIs can include visual and electrical indications, thermal lockout to prevent actuation due to cold fluid, and surge protection to prevent actuation due to flow/pressure spikes.

Porofelt® filter element

Porofelt® filtration media is stronger and firmer than fiberglass, providing improved durability.

Porofelt® filtration media is ideal when a fine degree of filtration is required. It consists of stainless-steel fibers sintered together to create bonds that are much stronger than industry-standard fiberglass.

Porofelt® media offers a firm structure that better withstands pulsation while being far less affected by system pressure and flow cycles, thereby holding contaminants to enhance fluid cleanliness. System component reliability has been shown to greatly increase with the use of Porofelt® filtration.

Thermal bypass valve

Offers enhanced reliability, leak-resistance and operability.

The thermal bypass valve is actuated by temperature, allowing flow at a set temperature and below, and it blocks flow at a set temperature and above, or vice versa.

The valve includes flow-path mounted sensors to provide quick reaction to temperature changes, all-metallic components that enhance reliability, and a wax-free designthat resists leakage due to hydraulic or lubrication oil exposure.

Next generation ePump (hydraulic)

This innovative hydraulic pump and electric motor package provides 9% weight reduction, 44% less energy loss, lower total cost of ownership, and a positive impact on the environment.

The ePump is a next generation, integrated hydraulic pump and electric motor package based on the design principle of minimizing total cost of ownership. The pump technology allows for compact and lightweight construction, while the motor and controller technology uses a new-to-market control concept aimed at reducing heat rejection and increasing service life. An overall 9% weight reduction and 44% less energy loss compared to current solutions drastically reduces fuel burn, a key driver in total cost ofownership.

ePump technology has the potential to be included in next-generation hydraulic power packs.
