Digital Twins are a key technology of Industry 4.0 and an important building block for your competitiveness in the long term. Why is Parker committed to this technology and connecting more and more of its physical products within the digital world? We will give you an initial insight and show you prospects for future use.
A Digital Twin is the virtual image of a physical object, system, or process. In our case, it is the digital representative of a Parker product. To this end, we provide all relevant information and data about our product in a standardized and interoperable format - the Asset Administration Shell (AAS). This allows you to use the data from our products across companies, platforms, and software. In addition, with the help of the Digital Twin, every single instance of a product can be tracked over its complete life cycle and its information can be used profitably along the entire value chain.
Even in the planning phase of a project, you benefit from the comprehensive information provided by Digital Twins when making decisions. Using the product-specific data, you can easily compare different options and quickly select the right product. The subsequent integration of the item into your ERP system can be automated by importing the Digital Twin to increase efficiency. If you have any product-specific questions, you will find all further information on the product directly in one place.
Digital Twins, whose information is available via the AAS, enable you to quickly develop optimized designs and processes. CAE data such as CAD or simulation models can be exchanged automatically and across software. The integration of various manufacturer information into a system or into a virtual prototype is greatly simplified.
During commissioning, all necessary documents and information are transparently accessible to you via the Digital Twins. During operation, the twins support the optimization of operating conditions based on real-time data from the system. As part of Condition Monitoring, technical problems can be detected at an early stage and costly downtimes can be minimized. You also benefit from the information provided by the Digital Twins when it comes to maintenance and spare parts procurement.
Digital Twins are playing an increasingly important role at the end of a product's life: they provide detailed information on which parts of a product you can reuse, recycle, or dispose of. This contributes significantly to the sustainability of your company and will become a must-have for the European market with the introduction of the European Digital Product Pass.
We use the AAS to provide our product information in a machine-readable format for both our item numbers (type information) and our serial numbers or PTS IDs (instance information).
The content of the type information includes, for example, the digital type plate, the documents with their metadata and the technical properties of the product. The instance information also contains individual production and diagnostic data.
The AAS is available for:
