Lawn & Turf: Battery Power Winning Market Share

A growing share of customers are opting for battery-powered equipment to minimize pollution while maintaining golf courses, sports fields and greenspaces. Unlike residential electric mowers, the technical challenge for large commercial equipment is the batteries and chargers required for all-day operation. Federal regulations have lagged on these engines, but California recently announced it will ban the sale of all gasoline-powered lawn equipment in 2031.

Integrated Hydrostatic Transmissions

When it comes to zero-turn propulsion systems, HT transmissions are designed for efficiency. They provide more horsepower to the mowing deck or other functions, and more hill-climbing capability. And they reduce the number of parts from 72 to 2, for less installation and procurement labor.

HT Series Integrated Hydrostatic Transmission

Unlike traditional split propulsions systems, the HT Transmission integrates the pump, motor and dozens of other parts into a single, compact unit for ease of installation. It provides higher starting torque, more power to the cutting deck, smooth motion, and significant fuel savings.

Announcing the new extended line of Parker HT Transmissions. The HT Series Transmissions offer a wider variety of propulsion options so that OEMs can accommodate a broader range of commercial market applications. The HT Transmissions provide OEMs increased design and manufacturing efficiency, with scalability across machine platforms.New to the HT Series transmission line is the HTJ it now comes with a choice of a 10 cc or 12 cc displacement pump providing more design flexibility for expanded market applications. It offers higher capacity bearings, for greater side load capability, and a heavy-duty motor drive train for higher torque, heavier weight machine capability and higher speeds. Traditional split propulsions systems involve dozens of parts on each side of the machine. So traditionally the OEM must install a pump and motor plus various hoses, clams, fittings, tubes, filters and reservoir. The Parker HT Transmission integrates all those parts, including the hydraulic fluid into just one unit. The small, compact design of the HT Series transmission easily fits inside the machine frame, make it far easier to install than split systems. Plus, the HT Series offers a common 4 bolt mount to make manufacturing easier. To scale one frame design across multiple product platforms. The HT series transmission features a completely hydraulic propulsion design. It doesn't use a power robbing gearbox. That means operators enjoy smooth and quick machine motion transitions. It also means higher starting torque. No gearbox also means a quieter ride and no gear wear or debris in the hydraulic fluid. The HT Series transmission is engineered to operate with less heat and more power available to do work. Less heat means more power to the cutting deck, no matter the terrain. It also translates into cooler running which extends both machine life and fluid life—and enhances operator comfort. The HT Series Transmission is engineered for efficient fuel use. Laboratory fuel consumption tests suggest a 25% fuel savings over competitive propulsion systems. Of course, lab tests are typically different than real world experience. But, even if the savings were only 10%, it is still a significant amount and worth considering. If you want to know more, go to parkerht.com.
