Driven by the decline of coal and strong export markets for LNG, substantial new midstream infrastructure will be needed by 2025 to move increasing shale gas production from supply basins to demand centers. These include Midwest and Mid-Atlantic markets as well as the Gulf Coast, where liquefaction facilities convert the gas to LNG for shipping to European and Asian markets.
